Seedeco® Crystal Terrazzo

  • Description

Seedeco Crystal Terrazzo stands for a patented system developed by Seedeco for the fabrication of optically impressive floorings of the highest quality and stability. These jointless, epoxy-linked floorings contain glass as their sole solid additive. Glass granules made from clean, colourless recycled glass from the float glass sector (sheet glass) form the base material for Seedeco Crystal Terrazzo.

Crystal Terrazzo floorings are characterized on the one hand by their distinctive decorative properties, in particular by their three-dimensional optical effect. This effect is based on the transparency of the basic glass material united with the optionally opaque, slightly transparent, or light-reflecting colour-coating of the coarser granules. On the other hand, Crystal Terrazzo floorings are chemically resistant and low-maintenance. They show outstanding technical properties regarding background-adhesion, mechanical durability, temperature change, and abrasion.

      Design Variants

Basically, Seedeco Crystal Terrazzo provides you with an unlimited design potential: the colouring of the glass granules and their composition, yielding the overall picture of the Terrazzo, can be systematically adjusted to the ideas of the architect or the client. Independent from this option of individual colour design, Seedeco has developed a standard colour-range based on 18 different glass granule colours. By restricting ourselves to this standard colour-range, we are always able to provide the material for at least 20 design variants in the required amounts directly from stock.

These design variants are divided into five lines as described below.

      • Pearl Line

        Characteristics:

        • Low-contrast composition white-ecru-light grey
        • Pronounced pearlescent reflection-effects
        • Colouring solely through systematic pigmentation of the fine grit-filled matrix

        Matrix Colouration:

White, light grey, pale grey, ivory, light apricot, light grey-green, light grey-blue.

        Polishing Grades:

Pearl Line is suitable for all polishing grades from matt to high gloss.

      • Granite Line

        Characteristics:

        • High-contrast compositions based on shades of grey
        • Light pearlescent tones

        Matrix Colouration:

Shades of grey with black, Shades of grey with nuances of blue, shades of grey with nuances of green, shades of grey with nuances of red.

        Polishing Grades:

Granite Line is suitable for polishing grades silk gloss and high gloss.

      • Harmony Line

        Characteristics:

        • Ranges in contrast between Pearl Line and Granite Line
        • Harmonious pastel colours

        Matrix Colouration:

Shades of grey, beige and ochre tones, light pastel green, light pastel blue.

        Polishing Grades:

Harmony Line is suitable for polishing grades silk gloss and high gloss.

      • Fantasy Line

        Characteristics:

        • intensive, also harmonious combinations of darker colours
        • Iridescent reflection effects
        • Relatively high transparency of the matrix
        • Partial integration of metal-pigmented or mirrored glass granules

        Matrix Colouration:

Anthracite to black with mirrored granules, shades of blue with mirrored granules, amber with gold, petrol green with gold, wine red with gold or mirrored granules.

        Polishing Grades:

Fantasy Line comes into its own under high gloss polishing.

      • Elegance Line

Elegance Line is particularly suitable for applications where the flooring is intended to appear unobtrusive yet - via its vitreous optical characteristics - noble; for instance in museums or showrooms.

        Characteristics:

        • Very discreet, low-contrast, monochrome combinations
        • Discreet, slightly silvery shimmering reflection effects of the coarser granules
        • Colouring solely through systematic pigmentation of the fine grit-filled matrix

        Matrix Colouration:

Any shade of grey ranging from white to anthracite as well as very discreet pastel colours are suitable.

    Multifaceted design possibilities for surfaces

The use of Seedeco Glass Granules as glass aggregate for cement-bonded systems − especially for concrete or screed surfaces − allows for them to be furnished in a completely new way. Accordingly, it is also possible to design and manufacture functional and optically attractive prefabricated elements incorporating the glass aggregate.

The patented Seedeco Glass Granules consist of trivalently coated glass. This special coating prevents a direct contact of vitreous and cementitious systems, which often leads to a reaction between silicic acid from the glass and alkali hydroxide from the matrix under the formation of an alkaline silica gel.

During the manufacturing process, the glass surface is colour-coated in several steps before being furnished with a primer coat that achieves an optimal bond with the cementitious matrix.
